During 2014-2015 Els Borghart and Declan Kelly have developed a new joint project in which the exploration of the meaning of being both artist and curator was researched. Ways of bringing both together were explored during a 5 week residency program in 2015 in both Tyrone Guthrie Centre and Cill Rialaig Arts Centre. The year-long research culminated in the travelling exhibition On The Way/ Onderweg which saw its first show in September-October 2015 in Galerie de Wandelgangen, the Arts Centre of the town of Nevele in Belgium. In November-December 2016 the exhibition travelled to An Táin Arts Centre in Dundalk, Ireland.

The creative Belgian-Irish duo Els Borghart and Declan Kelly have been working and travelling the world together for over 10 years. Both artists/ curators find constant inspiration in their many journeys and adventures often having similar starting points for new bodies of work: The world in transition with its many in-between spaces and changing identities. The historic and current context of Ireland, with its history of migration and immigration, combined with their common search for a home, raises questions about the identity of a nation, as well as the identity of the individual, and this in the context of the past, the present and the future. Those questions formed the inspiration for this exhibition, which they approached through their personal perspectives, reveries and challenges.

Curated at Galerie De Wandelgangen, Landegem (September 2015) and An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk (November 2016). In partnership with Create Louth.
